Trump administration announces Dept. of Ed. will transfer key functions to other agencies
Earlier today, the Trump administration announced that it will be transferring management of six programs currently under the U.S. Department of Education to other federal agencies. The Office of Elementary and Secondary Education (OESE), which distributes more than $20 billion in annual funding through the Title programs, as well as many others relevant to K-12 public schools, will move over to the Department of Labor. These agreements follow a May announcement regarding the transfer of the Office of Career, Technical and Adult Education to the Department of Labor.
An agreement transferring the management of the Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services (OSERS) to the Department of Health and Human Services was not released and is believed to be undergoing further legal review.
